Northwest Bay Ranch is located on the Nanoose peninsula on the east coast of Vancouver Island. In the rain shadow of Mt. Arrowsmith and the Beaufort Range running down the centre of Vancouver Island, the Nanoose climate is mild with moderate temperatures and lies within by the rare Garry Oak ecosystem. The Ranch lies within a beautiful valley with dogwoods, oaks, arbutus, douglas fir and big leaf maple trees.
The property is 145 acres which is made up of 55 acres of woodlands and 90 acres of pasture and hay fields. It was carved out of the wilderness in 1891. The E & N Railway runs right through the middle of the property as it used to be used to ship products to Victoria right off the farm. We have a small flock of Dorper sheep, a few Hereford cattle and we raise free range chickens for meat and eggs. We also board horses in addition to our own.
The Ranch is a family affair with three generations of the Mauriks family working the farm. Our family is committed to caring for and improving our land while at the same time raising real food that is nutritious and healthy.
